Igor Tanabe

Born in São Paulo, Brazil, and raised in Mie, Japan, Igor Tanabe has dedicated his life to
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as both an athlete and instructor.

His goal is to positively impact people’s lives and help every student become a better
version of themselves.

Early Years

Igor began training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at the age of six at Extreme Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Suzuka.

Only two months later, he entered his first competition.
He has never stopped competing since.

Teaching Journey

At sixteen years old, Igor began teaching children’s classes while also pursuing an international competitive career.

Over the years, he has developed a teaching philosophy focused on understanding, application, and continuous development.

Today

As Head Coach and Co-Founder of Embrace Jiu-Jitsu, Igor teaches classes daily and closely follows the development of every student.

At the same time, he continues pursuing his dream of becoming a Black Belt World Champion, believing that an active competitor inspires students to challenge themselves both on and off the mats.
